About

PatentCafe provides an exclusive on-site consulting service that reviews enterprise-wide intellectual property practices. Our consulting staff includes professionals experienced in Fortune 100 executive management in the fields of manufacturing, marketing, IT, business development, venture capital, and patent law.

In contrast to intellectual asset management (IAM) services offered by IP consulting firms focused primarily on invention and law, PatentCafe extends enterprise process management beyond IAM with a PQM process that applies as much to Manufacturing and Human Resources, as it does to the traditional R&D, legal and finance / investment realms.

The deliverables, the Qualitative Intellectual Property Benchmarking Report, provides recommendations, identifies shortcomings, highlights acceptable current intellectual property practices, and helps senior-level executives shape a corporate-wide Intellectual Property Best Practices program. Get more information …

The Imperative

During the 1980s and 1990s, Total Quality Management (TQM) set the standard of practice for extracting maximum efficiency and value from Improvement & Maintenance of existing enterprise systems. The TQM refined processes and means to attain higher performance targets. TQM maximizes processes performed “inside of the box”.

By its very nature, corporate innovation is a perpetual “future timeline” event residing “outside the box”. The shortcoming of TQM systems is its inability to maximize systems and processes for events and innovation that are yet to occur.

PQM is the process of extending operations, processes and systems outside of current operations in order to Create, Protect and Exploit processes, technologies and products that never existed, and therefore do not fall within TQM’s ability to “improve and maintain”.

Beneficiaries

  • Enterprise Managers (Increase Shareholder Value)
  • IAM, IP & Business Consultants (Services Augmentation)
  • Firms with strong Corporate and IP areas of practice
  • Venture Capitalists (Due Diligence)
